Our story
Over 10 years of disability support, special education and camps. One simple idea: support works best when people really know you.
Where it started
Our founders have spent over 10 years supporting people from infants to mature adults, in special education, on disability camps, in supported independent living and one to one in the community.
Those years taught them what good support looks like. It is calm and well planned. It is fun. And it comes from people who take the time to really know you.
They started Milestone and Me to offer exactly that, close to home in Melbourne's north.
The gap we set out to close
The hardest part of support for many families is change. New faces at the door, shifts cancelled at short notice, and plans that start again every time a worker leaves. Our founders have seen how much that costs people, and how much better things go when support stays steady.
So that is what we focus on. We are building a small team of support workers who share that way of working.
How we do it
- You meet your worker first. Each person has one main worker and one backup, and you meet both before support starts.
- Our founders stay involved. They match each worker, check in with families and keep plans on track.
- Plans like a teacher would. One goal at a time, a short note after each session and a one page summary each school term.
- Ready for neurodivergent people. About me forms, visual schedules and social stories, so the first visit feels familiar.
- Fun first. Days out with a camp spirit, where skills grow along the way.
- Clear and honest. Prices at or below the NDIS limits, shown on our website, and everything agreed in writing first.
How we work
Friendly, patient and person centred. We encourage choice, confidence and independence.
- Choice and control. You decide the goals and activities. We listen first and plan second.
- Independence over dependence. We do things with you, not for you. Each outing should leave you a little more confident.
- Respect and dignity. We respect culture, identity, communication style and privacy, and follow the NDIS Code of Conduct.
- Honest and upfront. Clear pricing, written agreements and straight answers, including telling you when we are not the right fit.
